Buddy Massage gives fewer conflicts in nursery
CLOSENESS. Already one year in age, children can learn to give each other massage.
At three, four years, they may be familiar with Qigong and yoga. And if the exercises are practiced in high school, studies show that young people who still themselves a couple times a week are better off than their friends.
Look at the photoes of children doing stillness and peaceful touch exercises. With burning candles in the middle and flute music in the background they do their soft, slow movements. Massage each other. Listen to their teacher. Or yawn. You can see that they know what they are doing.
And that they are familiar with it.
It may be the reason for the absence of sickleave among the teachers at the preschools Armbandet and Kättsätter in Norrköping more or less disappeared. None of the staff is on long-term sick leave since Qigong, child massage, and yoga was introduced in daily schedule. When the corresponding exercises practiced with high school students  redu ill health also among the teenagers.
The method - The dream of the good - is designed for school and
includes touch, reflection, stillness and movement. Movement for the small children is a special Children´s Qigong where they sneak through the bush as the white tiger, fly as a red bird or lumber as black bears. It brings out their own energies that the animals represent, according to the Chinese doctrine...

Folkbladet, December 2, 2008:
Receiving the award with peace of mind

At Kättsätter preschool the children do peaceful practices such as yoga and qigong. It is part of a school project called The Dream of the Good designed to create peace and quiet in schools and counteract violence. On Sunday the method is in focus as the project is awarded the big prize for 2008 by the Non-Violence Fund (Ickevåldsfonden).
“It’s of course wonderful that we receive all this attention,” Ann-Kristin Källström-Sundgren, director of Kättsätter and Armbandet preschools, and a pioneer in Norrköping, says.
The Non-Violence Prize is awarded yearly to individuals and organizations who work actively against violence and the ceremony will be held at Saint Jacob’s Church in Stockholm on Sunday. This year The Dream of the Good is one of the recipients.
Several research projects around the methods
Several research programs show that the methods have positive effects and that students’ physical health improve. The students’ peer relationships become better, they have an increased sense of well-being, and the stress level diminishes. The research results also show that the atmosphere in the class room improves and that the ability to concentrate and focus on school work increases.

Norrköpings Tidningar, October 19, 2008:
The Dream of the Good meats the Qigong Master

The Dream of the Good helps children and youngsters in the schools of Norrköping to find peace and harmony. Chinese Qigong Master Fan Xiulan has developed the method and yesterday she was here.

Fan Xiulan is a Master of Medical Qigong. Each year she pays a visit to Sweden where many people practice her teachings, among others, students at Armbandet, Djäknepark and Eneby Park. On Wednesday, she met students and teachers in Norrköping and could see for herself how qigong and massage is used in a few of schools.

“Something very special is happening in Norrköping and it gives me a fantastic feeling in my heart,” Fan Xiulan said. “The riches of the world aren’t our natural resources but our children and youngsters who will take over and carry this society forward, and Norrköping is a role model.”

The dream of peace starts with the individual
Everyone needs a peaceful mind. Peace of mind and deeper self-knowledge can be reached in different ways. The network movement - The Dream of the Good - has developed methods for children and youngsters to be used in schools.

The schools Vidåkersskolan in Vingåker and Baggetorps skola have tried the methods previously, and now Sävstaskolan is using them, too. It’s a peace education that starts within the individual.

Katrineholms Kuriren August 30, 2008:
Dreams for the school
The students at Baggetorp and Sävstaskolan in Vingåker may participate in the Dream of the Good, the peace project that KK told us about yesterday.

Theme day for teachers. In the workshops the participants could try yoga, massage, life dialogues and qigong. Here people are stretching after a stillness exercice.
It depends on how the teachers respond to the theme day that was held at Sävsta recently, where they, among other things, were able to try yoga and massage. Stefan Bohlin, headmaster at Sävstaskolan, has had previous experience of The Dream of the Good in a research program at Vidåkersskolan. Emmy Larsson, now in high school, took part in it. She warmed to the qigong teaching that she got at Vidåker, and she is telling us about it today.

Stillness.  In today’s society with so many impressions every day and a fast pace of life one needs to seek peace and stillness.

If the Dalai Lama was a father to children in the West, this is what he would teach them!

If you were  a father in the West, how would you advice your children to live?

The Dalai Lama:   I would teach them, that no matter how difficult or complicated the circumstances are, you can learn to be calm. When a problem arises you can learn to deal with it calmly, cooly. I would also try to make them aware of the futility of too much anxiety, too much impatience... I would encourage them to pay attention to the mental attitude or mental qualities. from the book The Dream of the Good, by Anna Bornstein
