About us

What is the Dream of the Good?
The Dream of the Good is a peace and health methodology and a network project that has grown out of the non profit organization Dream of the Good- in cooperation with The Peace Appeal Foundation, a foundation created by contemporary Nobel Peace Prize Laureates as a model for the development of a creative global peace education.

The project engages principals, teachers, recreation leaders and preschool staff and supports them in introducing the methodology to students of all ages.

The main task of the project is to make times for peace and quiet a permanent feature of the school day in Sweden and other countries. And to supply children and youngsters with tools to enable them to handle the stress and problems of today.

An important aspect of the work is supporting research on the Dream of the Good methodology.
The purpose of the project is to help educate children and youngsters with a sense of inner security, presence, self-confidence and feeling of interconnectedness.
The methodology is fourfold and consists of:
Stillness
Peaceful Touch
Reflection
Movement

The project is independent of political and religious creeds.

The first seed was sown in 1995
The Dream of the Good has grown out of the non-violence project “The Dalai Lama’s Perspective” that was developed within the non-profit organization Det Andra. The Dalai Lama’s Perspective was implemented in secondary schools in Stockholm in cooperation with daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter and the City of Stockholm in the school year of 1995-96. The project culminated with 7,000 secondary students listening to the Dalai Lama in the Stockholm Globen Arena, in May 1996.

The methodology of the Dream of the Good has been developed within Det Andra in cooperation with “The Peace Appeal Foundation”, a foundation created by contemporary Nobel Peace Prize Laureates to build a culture of peace among the children of the world.

The Dream of the Good is today a peace and health pedagogy and a network project. The project focuses on principals, teachers, recreation leaders and preschool staff.

Common questions and answers
I have positive experiences of meditation and massage in the classroom. I would like my colleagues to understand what possibilities these techniques give, but they are too stressed out to stop and listen. What advice could you give me?

Maybe you could invite your colleagues to try one of the techniques that you have used in your classroom. You could do that at a teachers meeting or on a study day. Most people will find that a moment of relaxation or massage has a positive effect. Another possibility is to ask a student to come and tell, or to arrange a course.
